Had been playing Battle Frontier in Pokemon Heart Gold A LOT,lately.In my opinion,much more fun and challenging compared to the Gen III stuff.
My favourite facility,Battle Factory.Don’t get me wrong,my own Pokemon are awesome and capable of sweeping entire team with an ease,but using rental Pokemon is fun too.You can used those Pokemon that you haven’t had the chance to battle and their movepool are so fascinating.Besides that,it is really a true test on your strategy arranging and your knowledge on different Pokemon.
Between Lv 50 and Lv 100 rental Pokemon,it is hard to choose which one is more fun.Using Lv 50 Pokemon,the risk of one hit KO are much lower and Supporting Pokemon can set up a lot of status affecting moves.Lv 100 means more legendary Pokemon to be use and prediction is really really important.Single battle is all about trashing your opponent as fast as you could.Double battle will need a little more patient and strategy building.
Here are some of the interesting Pokemon I had used in my many many battles:
Shuckle
Movepool:
- Substitute
- Power Trick
- Gyro Ball
- Double Team
Shuckle had the highest Special Defense and Defense of all Pokemon.Moves which are not super effective will barely scratch it. With good prediction and luck (no super effective moves),you can basically swept a whole team.First,substitute.Then,double team for a few times to make sure your opponents attacks miss.Next,power trick which switch your attack and defense (making your low attack base to rise to the highest base among Pokemon).FInally,gyro ball your opponents (Gyro ball hits more the more you are slower from your opponents,which is ideal for Shuckle which had a base speed of 5).I even KOed a Dragonite using this strategy.
Porygon 2
Movepool:
- Ice Beam
- Psychic
- Tri Attack
- Thunderbolt
Porygon 2 is surprising bulky.It can take 3 STAB Earthquake from Nidoking without fainting.Not very fast Pokemon,but it can be a great Special sweeper.Tri Attack hit many Pokemon and have potential to KO them(STAB+High Special Attack).Ice Beam will take care of Dragon,Ground,Grass etc.Psychic is so effective against Poison and Fighting.Thunderbolt will kill all those Water (especially the dangerous Gyrados) and Flying types.
Movepool:
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Earthquake
- Explosion
Metagross is a pseudo legendary Pokemon and yes it is strong. STAB Meteor Mash and Zen Headbutt hit hard.Earthquake will deal with other Steel types.If Metagross is fainting,Explosion will take down your opponent (expect Ghost Type).
