Earth Hour 2011

It was Earth Hour again yesterday and as usual my annual Earth Hour post ^^

And I will stress again that rather than switching your electrical supply for one hour per year,you will help the Earth more by saving up electricity EVERY DAY!!!

Then at 8.30 sharp,I heard fireworks outside.Wow,so “environmental friendly” to celebrate this day with more emission of CO2!!!

The main purpose of Earth Hour is to create awareness but do we really need all those celebration?Do we really need to light up candles in paper cups as a symbol that we SWITCH OFF the lights?Do we really need to drive all the way to malls to join the celebration with others?Do we really need those???DO WE???

So how I spent my Earth hour?Well,I took a stroll under my apartment.It was bright (many people didn’t participate) but I managed to find a darker spot.I sat there and look upon the stars (which is also been outshone by the lights) and relax.The wind was blowing gently,the surrounding was so quiet and it was so peaceful.And for one moment I feel myself in-sync with Mother Nature (until the fireworks AGAIN broke my peaceful moment!!!).The world is a beautiful place and I want my next generation to be to enjoy it as well.I will want to show them how magnificent and grand our planet it,not through images in books and Internet,but through interacting with the nature directly.

Don’t all of us wish that too???What we want to leave for our next generation?A paradise-like world or a dying planet???

So guys,PLEASE TREAT EVERY HOUR AS EARTH HOUR!!!GO GREEN!!!RECYCLE!!!

DONT JUST SPEAK,TAKE ACTION NOW!!!

 

Did u switch off the light?

Earth Hour again,the annual event that encourage everyone to switch off the light for an hour from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.

So,did you switch off the light?

YES!!!!

So what you do during that period???

FACEBOOK LOL,WATCHING TV LOL,BBQ LOL,PLAY WITH FIREWORK LOL,GO TO THE CELEBRATION LOL…

So what is the point of switching off the light?All the activities above consume energy too and it really doesn’t bring any benefits to the environment.It makes no difference is you keep your computer on while switching off the light,it is still a waste of energy.It makes no difference if you play with fireworks and firecrackers while switching off the light,it still harms the environment.

It will be pointless to celebrate Earth Hour if we don’t really understand the true meaning behind it. If you keep on wasting our energy source and harming the Earth for the rest of the 364 days,it will still be useless to switch off your light during Earth Hour.

Mother Earth need more than just an hour every year,she needs us to care about her everyday.Remember, there is only one Earth and she is irreplaceable…

So rather than just an hour annually, why don’t we treat every hour as Earth Hour?

What I Did During the Earth Hour

8.30-8.40 -- Bathing in the dark...
8.40-8.50 -- Ate my dinner in the dark...Romantic???Notice KLCC turn off their lights, good...
Also some houses at the apartment opposite are also dark,but dunno whether is
it because of the Earth Hour or maybe the owners are not at home...
8.50-8.55 -- Fell hungry again and is thinking what to eat...
8.55-9.05 -- Went downstairs to grab a burger hot dog combo.. Then I realize that I am not that
hungry.Never mind, keep it for supper...
9.05-9.10 -- Play handphone game.Trying to reach the high score...Then suddenly, no battery...I
have to play all over again.Haiz....
9.10-9.15 -- Too boring and started to count how many dark houses at the opposite apartment...
9.15-9.25 -- Begin to fell drowsy... This is one of the longest one hour I ever had...
9.25-9.30 -- Both my eyes are on KLCC. I will turn on the light as soon as they turn it on....

Conclusion: Rather than just off the light for one hour each year, I recommend everyone to save up energy everyday.
EVERY HOUR IS EARTH HOUR....
