Lead Pokemon (The Quick and Fast)

Today we are going to talk about lead Pokemon.Choosing the right lead Pokemon is vital no matter in Wifi Battle or any battles in the game.Yeah, you can always switch Pokemon but you will miss a turn there and that can hurts (especially when we are dealing with those Dragon Dancers which will usually out speed you the next turn).

So what are the important factors in choosing your best lead Pokemon?Well,it depends on what are you trying to achieve.Anyhow,a quick Pokemon will always had the advantage.

For an example,a Starmie is a good lead. With its 115 base Speed it can outrun most of other Pokemon.Water is a good type.Only 2 weakness;Electric will be quite troublesome but Grass can easily be taken down by Ice moves which is common for Water Pokemon. Then,Surf is a nice move,95 base power with 100% accuracy, pair it with Starmie 100 base Special Attack and STAB,you can wipe out 3-4 opponents Pokemon easily. Then you will need Thunderbolt (another nice move with 95 base power and 100 accuracy) for Gyrados (especially) and other Water fellows.Recover is good and reliable, otherwise Power Gem can pack some surprises to encounter Bug and Flying type.Of course,Ice Beam is a must as stated above to wipe out Grass and OHKO most of the Dragon Pokémon. Psychic will have STAB but the coverage is just average. The same goes to Grass Knot.Yes it wll be useful in killing Water/Ground type but there are only a handful of those.

Jolteon is a good choice, too.Higher base Speed (130) and slightly higher (110) Special Attack than Starmie does come with a disadvantage, the very common Earthquake.Hidden Power Grass is good for water bulky Pokemon like Swampert and it should easily killed off less Special Defensive Pokemon like Dugtrio or Golem.Thunderbolt is a must ( 95 base power and 100 accuracy plus STAB).Shadow Ball will be useful in taking down Gengar and other Ghost Pokemon and Psychic too.Hidden Power Ice is another option especially when you are battling Glisor and Dragon Pokemon.Signal Beam is not as effective as Hidden Power Ice,but it may surprise your opponents.

Another surprisingly good lead is Ambipom.Another fast Pokemon (115) and a good Attacker (100),pair up with Technician (Raises move with 60 base power or less by 1.5 times),it will be an effective battler.Fake Out and U-Turn will be your prime strategy, especially during scouting.Fake Out will surely flinch a Pokemon (except those with Steadfast and Inner Force) and with Technician, can damage quite a lot. Then,if you can’t handle the Pokemon, U-Turn on your next turn which will further damage them. The next moves are optional, depends on what are planning to do.Thunder Wave is fine (many Ambipom in Battle Factory have it),Return is always a reliable STAB move and it hits hard.Nasty Plot and Swift combo will turn Ambipom into an unexpected Special Attacker.Substitute and Focus Punch to deal with Rock and Steel, however the Subs won’t last too long.Brick Break is a better and straight forward move although less powerful than Focus Punch.Protect and Last Resort are two other option.Protect will need a lot of prediction and make use of those moves with low PP.Last Resort is powerful but the buildup may be risky as you have to use all your other moves before it.
